Mark graduated from the SynCat Master Programme, no doubt with a top grade (1.0) for his Master Thesis.
Michal is a very bright and curious young researcher. Mark impressed with the number of skills he acquired during his short time with us - including photocatalysis, flow chemistry, gas-liquid reactions and computational chemistry (DFT). Despite many hardships and hurdles - owing to his independence, his determination and his hard work - he was able to lead an academic/industry collaborative research project to the finish line in leading journal Chem. Sci.
Mark co-wrote a granular review (with Michal) on C-Alkylation of alkali metal carbanions in Org. Biomol. Chem.
Mark is an active scientific communicator, both to scientific and layman audiences. He presented at two virtual conferences (SEQT Young Research Symposium 2021, EYCheM2022), winning a 'best talk' award at the latter. He presented his gas-liquid photochemistry research to laymen audiences in an entertaining way, and progressed to the German national 'FameLAB' finals!
Without doubt, Mark will go on to become a future leader/communicator in science.
We wish Mark all the best in his future career!
